Get ready for a “Doggone Fun Day” at Valleyfest! The American Kennel Club (AKC) has designated September as Responsible Dog Ownership month. The AKC & Spokane Kennel Club are dedicated to educating dog owners about responsible ownership to include researching the right breed for the family to raising a healthy happy dog that will be a part of the family for a lifetime.

Valleyfest and Spokane Kennel Club welcome families and their well-mannered leashed canine companions to this fun event.

The fun dog activities planned are:

  • Meet the Breed – Meet various AKC breeds and learn more about the different breed groups
  • Valley Fire Department “Mako” Accelerant Detection K-9 demonstration
  • Spokane Police Department “Stryder” K-9 Officer demonstration
  • Skyhounds Disc Dog Competition – Open to the public for competition
  • Julia's Jungle, Spokane Humane Society, Spokanimal, Washington Basset Rescue, & S.C.R.A.P.S will be present with adoptions
  • AKC Canine Good Citizen Test – $5.00 AKC test registration fee
    Ten step test to certify your dog for becoming a good citizen
    AKC CGC certificate upon completion
  • Children’s Safety Course
  • Obedience, Agility & Flyball demonstrations from Spokane Dog Training Club and Lilac City Dog Training Club
  • Various canine special interest businesses
