The Hearts of Gold Parade starts at Appleway Florist and finishes at Perrine Road.
The Hearts of Gold parade is a staple of Valleyfest and continues to recognize those in the Spokane Valley who give back to the community with their “hearts of gold.”
Join the wide variety of parade entries, including animals, custom and classic cars, floats, bands, clowns, Miss Spokane Valley Royalty, and more!
Sprague Avenue closes to cars between University Road and Pines Road at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 19, 2025.
Come down to Sprague Avenue early before the road closures. Find good parking and eat dinner along the parade route. There are 30 eateries on the parade route and include Arby’s, Baskin Robbins, Black Straw Tea Bar, Brass Faucet Bar & Grill, Burger King, Conley’s Place, Choo Choo Tortas, Crimson Door Cafe, Darcy’s, Dave’s Bar & Grill, Denny’s, Domino’s, Dutch Bros, Ferraro’s, Flaming Joes, Grocery Outlet, Hu Hot, Ichabod’s East, Iron Horse, Le Brothers Pho, Mangrove Café, Marketplace Pizza, McCracken’s Irish Pub, McDonald’s, Monkey Bar, Nom Nom, Peking Palace, Pho Saigon Road House, Ron’s Drive-In, Rosauer’s, Sam’s Stop & Shop, Senor Froggy, Smoke Ridge, Starbucks, Taco Bell, Taco Time, Taste of Mexico, The Garden Coffee and Local Eats, Three Sisters, Thrifty Scotsman, Top of India, and Zips.

SIRT Coordinator for SCOPE
For over two decades, Lee Chessman has been a pillar at SCOPE. (Sheriff Community Oriented Policing Effort). The Seattle native began volunteering in 2003 and a year later, took over as Coordinator of the SIRT (SCOPE Incident Response Team), a program that specializes in traffic control.

“Lee is a phenomenal leader; He has been instrumental in training and developing our volunteers. Lee spent 23 years in the Air Force, serving in Security Forces, before retiring in 1989 at the rank of Major. Lee truly appreciates the sense of giving back to the community through SCOPE, not only with SIRT, but with the 20-plus other programs SCOPE has been involved with in the community.”
So many years of service and hours given to SCOPE, the Spokane community, and the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. Valleyfest has worked with Lee Chessman on our safety plan for both the parades, park security, and assistance with our Cycle Celebration and sports events.
Lee will be retiring in October, a true legend, who exhibits the qualities of service of giving, and going beyond with commitment to the Spokane Valley. Congratulations, Lee, YOU will be greatly missed.
