Valleyfest CultureFest event is designed to celebrate and share our diverse rich cultures and heritages with our neighbors through dance, art, music, fashion, food, and business. Visit Mirabeau Point Park and enjoy the fun and live entertainment from around the world.

Coaches at the club have a variety of experiences in teaching the different weapons: Foil, Epee, and Sabre.
Students learn basic footwork and blade work, and how to combine the two together in the beginning classes. Intermediate and advanced students are introduced to electric fencing. Students at this level learn more complex movements and advanced strategy skills.
** (Due to liability, our insurance will not cover someone to fence without a national membership).
Who can join: We teach students from 10 years old to 60+
What you will learn: An introduction to the 3 weapons, their history, and the differences between them. Students will be fencing ien lectric and non-electric bouts to demonstrate the skill and speed of the sport.

Experience Japanese culture at the Mirabeau Park Shelter!

Thailand
Enthusiast of Thai language and culture, sharing traditions and crafts from Thailand—known as the Land of Smiles.
Presenter: Jenny Larsen
Demonstration Time: Saturday, September 20th, 12:00–3:00 PM
Activity: Discover Thailand through crafts, books, and treats.
Who Can Join: Everyone is welcome—from young children to retirees.
Materials Provided: Thai-themed coloring books, craft supplies, and Thai candy.
Location: Shelter in Mirabeau Park Meadows
What You’ll Experience:
• Enjoy coloring elephants and other traditional Thai designs
• Try a simple, fun Thai-inspired craft
• Sample authentic Thai candies
• Listen to stories from Thai children’s books
Rondalla.
Presenter: FAAIE Bayanihan Rondalla
Background: A Spokane-based ensemble performing traditional Filipino folk music with authentic instruments. They are among only a handful of rondalla groups in the United States.
Demonstration Time: Saturday, September 20th, 1:00-2:00 PM
Activity: Live folk music performance
Who Can Join: Everyone is welcome—music lovers of all ages

Get Draped in the Beauty of India: Sarees & Bindis
Presenter: Indian Youth Club of Spokane
Background: Enthusiast of Indian culture, traditions, and fashion, sharing the beauty and symbolism of sarees and bindis.
Demonstration Time: Sunday, September 21st, 12:00–4:00 PM
Activity: Try on sarees and bindis while learning about their cultural significance.
Who Can Join: Everyone is welcome—from young children to retirees.
Materials Provided: Sarees, bindis, and cultural display items.
Location: Shelter in Mirabeau Park Meadows
What You’ll Experience:
• Try wearing a colorful saree
• Learn the meaning and styles of bindis
• Discover the cultural traditions behind Indian attire
• Take photos in traditional dress
Chinese Calligraphy Experience
Presenter: Spokane Chinese Organization
Background: Dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich traditions of Chinese art and culture.
Demonstration Time: Sunday, September 21st, 1:00–4:00 PM at Valley Fest Shelter
Activity: Experience the timeless art of Chinese calligraphy.
Who Can Join: Everyone is welcome—from young children to retirees.
Materials Provided: Brushes, ink, and paper.
What You’ll Experience:
• Watch live demonstrations by skilled calligraphers
• Learn the graceful art of brush and ink
• Try writing calligraphy yourself
• Create a personalized keepsake to take home

CultureFest is a great opportunity for the community to share diverse businesses, performances, cultural information, or all three with the rest of the Spokane Valley community.

CultureFest is designed to celebrate and share our diverse rich cultures and heritages with our neighbors through dance, art, music, fashion, food, and business. Valleyfest works with community partners to build bridges of trust, respect, and understanding across cultures and ethnic groups.

We ask, if possible, that all booths/vendors provide an interactive game or hands-on activity for youth and families. You may consider games or exhibits that feature a multicultural theme or arts and crafts, community awareness of your organization, or historical cultural experience. Be creative! This is your time to meet the families in your community and showcase your organization, outreach program, and products.

CultureFest booth registration is $65 per 10 ft. x 10 ft. (no sales allowed.) One (1) eight-foot table will be provided; please bring your own awning and chairs.

If you want to sell, register for a marketplace booth for $135. (No table provided).
