Lions Club Bed Races

Teams of 5 per bed racer; Team Entry fee of $225 per team.

The race course is 1,000 feet; Starting at Gillis Road – 500 ft one way to Moffit Road, Rotational fire drill, and 500 ft back to the finish line.

Bed Race Rules

  1. Each team must have 5 people to a team who actually race (4 runners, 1 rider, and 1 alternate, just in case).
  2. Race course is 1,000 feet; Starting at Gillis Road – 500 ft one way to Moffit Road, Rotational fire drill, and 500 ft back to the finish line.
  3. (2-5) beds will race at once for a time trial. Top (2) times, race will go in heats of (2-5) teams. Race for the single best time.
  4. All beds must be decorated (keep in mind there is a contest for best decorated and a great prize for this).
  5. Any size wheels are permitted.
  6. No braking devices allowed.
  7. Pushing or pulling the bed only during the race.
  8. Bed Racer and each team must stay in the designated lane.
  9. Rotational fire drill must include switching of the pajamas.
  10. All 5 team members must pass the finish line (with the bed) in order to win.
  11. Bed Race teams have all been registered to be entered into the Valleyfest Parade. Must register by August 15th to have business names added to the parade registration.

Bed Construction

  1. Twin bed design (due to the width of lanes in the race course). Mattress or padding (minimum of 4 inches thick) must be part of the design.
  2. Beds must have wheels, all must touch the ground, and wheels can be any size. Recommend pivotal wheels.
  3. Participants must dress along with the bed theme decoration to win prizes. Beds can be decorated in any way, and full team costume is part of the design – be creative!
  4. Bed cannot have any means of propulsion other than the team pushing or pulling it. No motors. Human power only. No brakes.
  5. Bed may have push bars not extending more than 4 inches out. Nothing sharp may be part of the bed.
  6. No sharp items, glass, or obscene items on beds. Beds will be disqualified for any of these violations.
  7. Any violations in bed design will have penalties (up to and including disqualification). Beds that are not constructed according to the rules will be required to be modified to adhere to the rules.
  8. This is a Family friendly event, please design and dress accordingly.

All proceeds will benefit local charities. EARLY BIRD SPECIAL…Deduct $25.00 if your application is postmarked by June 30th.
