SATURDAY

10:00 a.m. – Salish School of Spokane

Staff and students from Salish School of Spokane (SSOS) will share Salish language and songs. Salish is the heritage language of the Spokane, Coeur d’Alene, Colville and Kalispel Tribes, and it is the first language of Spokane. The word Spokane comes from the Salish word for the sun, “sp̓q̓niʔ”. All four Salish languages in the Spokane region are critically endangered.  SSOS and our tribal partners are working to preserve and revitalize Salish languages to ensure that important part of the rich heritage of the Spokane region can go on for generations to come. Come and join us to learn some Salish and hear our beautiful language. http://www.salishschoolofspokane.org/

From there she continued to hone her skills by playing on and leading worship teams at her local church. After the Freeman Shooting occurred in 2017, Jena wrote the song “Remember You”, dedicated to the student who lost his life while protecting his fellow students. She then released the song along with a music video a year later and has continued to write more songs and play gigs ever since – hoping to pursue creating music that makes a lasting impact in people’s lives.
